From Fitness to Technology: My Journey of Resilience and Growth

This month I turn 40.

But the real transformation didn’t come from age — it came from a decision: to stop letting life “happen” to me and start designing it — one rep, one line of code, one habit at a time.

This is my story of resilience, fitness, technology, and the relentless pursuit of balance. It’s about how health and technology became twin engines for growth — and how you can harness both to design a life (and career) you’re proud of.

My Health Journey: Struggles and Wake-up Calls

Health was never simple for me:

  • Childhood thyroid issues meant I struggled with my weight early on.
  • In class 10 I lost weight after treatment, but I had no real guidance.
  • Entering the workforce, I hustled: long nights, poor diet, and no balance.

By 2010 it caught up with me — a slip disc put me on bed rest.

But I didn’t learn right away. The cycle continued: fad diets, on/off gym stints, and worrying medical reports.

2018 was the breaking point:

  • My weight hit 105kg.
  • My blood sugar and other markers were alarming.
  • My body — and family history — told me: enough.

Rediscovering Fitness

I restarted with yoga and cardio, bringing my weight down to 92kg.
By 2019, I committed to the gym seriously — not just to lose weight, but to gain strength and build a sustainable lifestyle. I learned about nutrition, strength training, and recovery.

Progress was real — then Covid hit. Gyms closed, habits slipped, and I crept back to 99kg.

In 2021, after moving to Pune, everything shifted. I joined Fittr, worked with coach Vijay Pardeshi, and finally embraced the missing piece: consistency.

  • Diet and parties coexisted without guilt.
  • Gym time became me-time, not punishment.
  • 10k steps became routine, not an achievement.
  • Health became my first priority, not an afterthought.

Today, I’m in the best shape of my life—physically and mentally. But I know there’s still a long way to go. The journey never really ends, and that’s what keeps it exciting.

Fitness: My Stress-Buster & Idea Engine

Today, fitness is my engine room.

  • The treadmill isn’t just cardio — it’s where ideas flow.
  • Workouts give me mental clarity, discipline, and patience.
  • Fitness is my competitive edge in a world of AI hype, tech sprints, and endless distractions.

Fitness ↔ Technology: The Parallels

Over the years, I noticed how lessons from fitness mirror the principles of technology:

  • Fad diets = shortcut technology decisions. They rarely last.
  • Form before load = good engineering practices before scaling.
  • Consistency beats intensity = iterative delivery > big-bang launches.
  • Recovery = paying down tech debt before adding new features.

Both fitness and technology demand discipline, patience, and the humility to build strong foundations before chasing scale or speed.

Continuous Learning & Fundamentals

The world changes fast. Trends come and go. But whether it’s health or technology, the key is the same: master the fundamentals and keep learning.

  • Keep things simple.
  • Iterate consistently.
  • Reinforce basics before experimenting.
  • Small improvements compound over time.

Fundamentals are the framework; continuous learning makes that framework effective.

Lessons at 40

As I step into this milestone, here’s what I know:

  • Health is the foundation for everything else — the asset you’ll thank yourself for later.
  • Technology moves fast, but discipline and clarity matter more than hype.
  • Patience is a superpower — in both fitness and technology.
  • Consistency compounds — in the gym and in systems.
  • Shortcuts rarely last.
